Wild South is an adventure, and it’s this spirit that led us to the Waihopai Valley, beside the Omaka River, to a wild piece of land strewn with rocks from end to end: Hell’s Gate. But hidden under that prickly name and all those rocks was the perfect wine-growing land. Rock by rock, we hand-cleared it and set about establishing Wild South wines, and this Marlborough vineyard was to be at the heart of it all.

Four Hawk Day Wines
Four Hawk Day wines are produced on our vineyard situated on the banks of the Omaka River, in the charming Cowslip Valley. This distinctive little valley creates a unique micro-climate within the Waihopai Valley grape-growing area. We have recorded temperatures ranging from minus 14 to plus 42 degrees here, we took both days off!

Claylaur Family Estate Wines

The Terrace Heights Estate vineyard is situated on the lower terrace of the Wairau plains just west of Renwick in Marlborough, New Zealand. The vineyard was first planted in 1993/94. Along the way it has been expanded and, where once cherry and apple trees stood in the nineties, we now have around 32ha of vines to make THE wine.

Eradus Wines
All grapes that make Eradus Wines are grown in the Awatere Valley, a sub region of Marlborough with its own unique microclimate. The Awatere Valley is windier, dryer, stonier, cooler and on the whole more extreme than Marlborough’s other regions. These conditions create wines with a distinct mineral backbone and crisp, clean acidity.
All grapes that make Eradus Wines are grown in the Awatere Valley, a sub region of Marlborough with its own unique microclimate. A characteristic is its relative uniformity: its deep silt loam soils, with moderate to high fertility and good water-holding capacity, promote greater consistency in fruit development and maturation.
